Fall is right around the corner which means cooler weather, beautiful color, football, and apples!! \u00a0Visiting a local orchard is always fun, and we’re sure to bring home some crisp, juicy, sweet apple, perfect for baking and eating!<\/p>\n
You \u00a0may remember those “impossible” pies that were very popular starting way back in the ’80s. \u00a0You know, the ones with no crust, and you mix them up in the blender. \u00a0Well, my favorite one is probably the French Apple Pie! \u00a0It’s a combination egg custard and apple pie with a streusel topping! \u00a0What a \u00a0treat it is! \u00a0Why not give it a try?<\/p>\n
French Apple Pie<\/strong><\/p>\n 6 cups peeled, cored, sliced apples (firm varieties are more suitable for baking…I used Fuji apples in this pie) Preheat oven to 325 degrees. \n1-1\/4 teaspoons cinnamon
\n1\/4 teaspoon nutmeg
\n3\/4 cup whole milk
\n2 eggs
\n2 tablespoons softened butter<\/em> (for best results use butter rather than a substitute)
\n1 cup sugar
\n1\/2 cup baking mix, such as Bisquick<\/p>\n
\nMix apples with spices and turn into a greased 10″ pie plate.
\nCombine remaining ingredients in blender for 15 seconds. \u00a0If using an electric mixer blend for 1 minute. \u00a0Pour mixture over apples. \u00a0Sprinkle streusel over top of pie. \u00a0Bake for 55-65 minutes or until a knife inserted in center comes out clean. (My pie took longer, \u00a0but my pie pan was 9 1\/2″, so keep checking it)<\/p>\n

\n1\/2 cup chopped nuts
\n1\/3 cup packed brown sugar
\n3 tablespoons firm butter<\/em><\/p>\n
