Decorating for the holidays is comforting in a crazy kind of way for me!  Maybe it’s the nostalgic feeling that overcomes me when I unwrap ornaments for the tree, some of which I’ve had all my life.  Or perhaps it’s the creative mode I go into where all I want to do is “make something”!!  It can be a sewing project…made two new reindeer pillows, baking cookies and other goodies, or something as simple as tucking evergreen branches wherever I can!  The final results make me want to curl up on the couch with a cup of coffee while carols play softly and just soak it all in!

The mantel is usually a challenge for me, but this year it all came together rather quickly.  After deciding to use white pottery and mercury glass accessories it was easy.  I used lots of evergreen, red berries, and pinecones everywhere, hung up the stockings, and added greenery above them. Keep in mind displaying items in a collection together as one group has more impact than spreading them throughout the space.

This year I’m trying to keep it simple, and so far I’m happy with the way things are turning out!  More posts are on the way, so check back real soon!

Have fun getting ready for the holidays, and may it bring you comfort and joy!
